The history of the #44 started back in 1988.  Then middle linebacker Bobby Kreutz asked coach George St. Lawrence if his number could be handed down to the player he felt most deserved it.  Ever since the #44 has been passed from player to player selected by previous years recipient. Coaches are not involved in decision making of the "44" and this is a tradition that will carry on throughout the history of Warwick Football and extend through coaching staff changes.
